Job Description

SUMMARY

Prepare structural calculations, drawings, sketches, and production drawings for assigned projects in accordance with applicable codes and standards (i.e., Building Code of NYS, ACI, AISC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI 530/530.1-13, NDS) and department procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Perform structural calculations (steel, concrete, wood and masonry).
•    Perform analysis and design of gravity and lateral systems of various structural systems (including building structures located in high seismic regions and hurricane prone regions), using STAAD, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, MathCAD and other structural design packages.
•    Perform analysis of existing structures to upgrade to new code requirements
•    Prepare detailed engineering reports and assist in developing project standards and specifications.
•    Perform field investigations & surveys.
•    Prepare preliminary and final designs from field notes and data files.
•    Manage clients and take projects from schematic design phase through construction administration services.
•    Read and interpret engineering sketches, maps, survey field notes, aerial photographs and drawings.
•    Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and analyzing material costs, quality and quantity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent required. Minimum 3 years of experience. Must have experience in structural engineering design, calculations, and production drawing oversight. Must have experience with STAAD, SAP, ETABS or other structural software packages, as well as experience with MathCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel, along with AutoCAD and REVIT. Excellent references required.
