Scope and Purpose

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Quality Technician performs and completes all levels of PPAP documents for internal and external customers. Generates and maintains all internal documentation within the company’s internal ERP and Share Point system. Performs audits and creates/maintains documents associated with ISO 9001-2015 including process auditing and SPC documentation. This position is data driven and drives continuous improvements captured from trends from reports and metrics.

Essential Duties and Areas of Responsibility:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products.
  • Resource to department supervisor(s) for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in design and implementing methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Assist in review of customer prints, change requests, inspection requirements, and necessary criteria in quality process plans.
  • Assist in internal and external quality audits including ISO 9001-2015 certification.
  • Perform visual inspections of finished products to identify defects such as warping, uneven wall thickness, or surface imperfections.
  • Measure and verify dimensions and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, or other measuring tools.
  • Conduct tests to ensure products meet mechanical, thermal, and durability specifications.
  • Monitor the rotational molding process to identify and resolve issues that may affect product quality.
  • Record process parameters (e.g., temperature, rotation speed, and cycle time) and ensure they are within specifications.
  • Work with operators to implement corrective actions when deviations occur.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and quality control activities.
  • Prepare quality reports and communicate findings to supervisors or managers.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and internal quality procedures.
  • Calibrate testing and inspection equipment regularly to maintain accuracy.
  • Ensure that all tools and instruments are in good working condition.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for defective products and assist in implementing corrective and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with the production team to improve processes and enhance product quality.
  • Suggest improvements in materials or techniques to optimize product performance.
  • Ensure that quality testing procedures comply with safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate with production teams to address quality issues promptly.
  • Resolve quality concerns and provide documentation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in relation to the following fields.
  • A minimum of 4 years of mechanical inspection experience is preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of Acceptance Sampling plans and table usage.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, including GD&T.
  • Proficient in the use of inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, go/no go gages, checking fixtures, height gages, and other mechanical inspection equipment.
  • Visual inspection experience.
  • Gather data for SPC monitoring. Ability to analyze results and identify out-of-control conditions, trends and runs.
  • SAGE 100 ERP System is a plus.
  • Able to run controlled experiments under direction of engineering/manufacturing.
  • Able to discuss technical problems encountered with suppliers, customers, managers, engineering, or purchasing staff.
  • Ability to prioritize inspection workload.
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and demanding environment.
  • Proficient in Office 365

Language Skills:

  • Must be well spoken and able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be approachable and compatible with all employees.
  • Reading, writing and typing skills.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Geometry, Trigonometry and understand the decimal place system.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Coordinate and Polar Dimensioning.
  • AutoCad and/or Solidworks experience is a plus.
  • ISO 9001:2015 experience.
  • Critical thinking.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
