Table to Table is a United Way agency of Johnson County.
Volunteers are an essential element of our organization and provide the means for us to pursue our mission. By keeping food from going to waste, we help these agencies in their efforts to help those in need. Whether the agency we deliver to prepares a meal or distributes groceries, this rescued food is making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Since 1996, Table to Table has rescued over 20 million pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste. This year alone, the volunteers have rescued 2.5 million pounds of food. Donations are collected from 80 local grocery stores, bakeries, dairies, restaurants, schools and businesses. 50 local social service agencies receive donated food distributed through Table to Table. Each 1.5 pounds of donated food provides an equivalent meal to someone in need. This year, Table to Table saved social service agencies over $6 million in Johnson County.
Table to Table is Iowa's original food rescue organization. We specialize in "rapid response" retrieval of fresh and perishable foods; we pick up and deliver the donated food items to recipient agencies in the same day.

Volunteer Duties
- Interacting with donor organizations
- Boxing and loading food donations into Table to Table van
- Transporting food to recipient organizations such as community pantries, shelters, preschools, etc.
- Unloading food
