Position Summary
Tabor Academy seeks a dynamic and innovative Director of Library and Learning Support to lead and oversee the school's library services and academic resource center (ASSIST Center) as part of an integrated Learning Commons space. The Director will manage a team of learning support and library professionals, ensuring that both areas collaborate to provide exceptional support for student learning and faculty teaching. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in learning support services and possess the ability to oversee a well-functioning library. They will also be a visionary leader who understands the evolving landscape of research, literacy, and academic skill development in a secondary school environment. The Director of Library and Learning Support will report to the Dean of Academics. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried staff position that follows the academic year schedule, with vacation time typically scheduled during the summer recess and school breaks.

Primary Responsibilities:
Leadership and Administration:
- Supervise, mentor, and support the Learning Support staff, including the librarian, ASSIST staff, and student leaders.
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for a Learning Support Program that aligns with Tabor Academy's academic goals.
- Establish and oversee a Learning Commons space consisting of Library and Learning Support Center (ASSIST).
- Report to and collaborate with the Dean of Academics to ensure the Learning Commons serves as a hub of student-centered learning and support.
- Manage the Learning Support budget, resources, and facilities to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and innovative learning environment.
- Collaborate with the Digital Pedagogy and AI Integration Specialist to develop programming and resources to support research, digital literacy, and information fluency across the curriculum.
- Collaborate with the Librarian and Digital Pedagogy and AI Integration Specialist to stay current with trends and technologies in library services and educational technology.
- Oversee the scheduling of all faculty assigned to evening duties in the space.
- Oversee and participate in the development and delivery of individualized and group academic support services for students.
- Supervise the learning support team in providing targeted interventions, study skills workshops, and learning strategy development.
- Partner with teachers, advisors, and school counselors to identify and support students with diverse learning needs.
- Stay informed about best practices and emerging research in learning support and educational psychology.
- Oversee the Peer Tutoring program.
- Schedule and support the Evening Academic Support Team (EAST) and peer tutors assigned to the Learning Commons.
- Partner with the Director of Residential life to support structured study hall programs in the evening.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and lifelong learning within the school community.
- Serve as a resource for faculty in designing assignments that promote critical thinking, research, and academic integrity.
- Engage with families to communicate the resources and support available through the Learning Support Program.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree.
- Prior experience in a high school setting preferred and an obvious joy for working with teenagers and adults.
- Designs and implements targeted learning support programs that address diverse student needs and promote academic success.
- Applies evidence-based strategies to develop individualized interventions and accommodations that support student learning and growth.
- Strong understanding of current trends in library services, information literacy, and educational technology.
- Demonstrated experience or familiarity with AI tools in education, including their applications for instruction, assessment, and student support, with a commitment to ethical and responsible classroom AI integration
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and perspectives.
- Be self-reflective and committed to professional work, as well as able to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
- Experience working in a boarding school or similar educational environment is a plus.
