Rotary Wing Aviation Operations Exercise Planner

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Rotary Wing Aviation Operations Exercise (RW AVN) Planner will provide comprehensive support for planning, coordinating, and executing RW AVN operations within a large-scale training exercise planning group. This role involves maintaining the aviation portion of the exercise execution matrix (EXMAT), coordinating training needs, and ensuring the fulfillment of aviation support requests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the RW AVN portion of the overall exercise execution matrix (EXMAT).
• Participate in all Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) events relevant to the RW AVN exercise function.
• Coordinate and synchronize RW AVN and other unit training needs, capturing all approved training events on the RW AVN exercise EXMAT.
• Participate in all touch point, update, and Exercise Planning Group internal meetings and coordination events.
• Provide support during Local Area Orientation scheduling efforts during foundation week prior to exercise execution.
• Provide support when briefing Combined Arms Rehearsals and other coordination briefings prior to, and during, execution.
• Utilize multiple mission command and communications systems within a secure environment to receive, organize, and forward Aviation Support Requests to Rotational Training Unit Aviation headquarters with approval authority.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Rotary Wing Aviation operations.
• Qualified 15-series (or service equivalent) aviator within the last 15 years.
• Familiarity with Aviation Battalion/Brigade Future Operations, Aviation Liaison Officer responsibilities, air assault planning, and preferably attack reconnaissance experience.
• Proficient in mission command, communications systems, and planning and executing training scenarios.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with Army and Joint Aviation Doctrine.
• Experience in joint, multinational, decisive action environments.
• Previous participation in large-scale military exercises or training events.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel as required to various locations within the 54 states and territories and District of Columbia.
