Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Weather Technical Readiness Evaluation and OT&E Program Support Specialist to support the Headquarters Air Combat Command Weather Operations Division (HQ ACC/A3W). This role involves monitoring and evaluating the technical readiness of Air Force Weather operations, collecting and analyzing weather verification data, supporting Lessons Learned initiatives, and integrating weather operations into broader Air Force Information Warfare (IW) activities.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in military or civilian weather operations, expertise in weather data analysis, and the ability to assess and enhance operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement ACC/A3W MAJCOM weather functional responsibilities for technical readiness per DAFMAN 15-129_ACC SUP.
- Develop, implement, and manage unit metrics programs to monitor and evaluate the accuracy and performance of weather products and services.
- Collect and consolidate Weather Watch, Warning and Advisory (WWA) Verification (WARNVER) and Terminal Aerodrome Forecast Verification (TAFVER) metrics for ACC weather organizations.
- Use metrics to monitor, analyze, and assess technical performance and effectiveness of ACC tactical-level weather operations.
- Prepare recommendations for ACC/A3W leadership to identify trends and deficiencies related to organizing, training, and equipping weather forces.
- Provide feedback to AF/A3W on weather metric trends and recommend changes to policy or training to improve Air Force Weather technical capabilities.
- Develop command-specific metrics guidance for ACC weather units and assist commanders in assessing weather readiness using the Defense Readiness Reporting System.
- Serve as the ACC/A3W Point of Contact for the Air Force Lessons Learned Program per AFI 10-1302 and DAFMAN 15-129.
- Manage and monitor Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS) accounts across security levels.
- Collect, validate, and upload Lessons Identified from Airmen or After-Action Reports into JLLIS within 30 days of an event.
- Analyze Lessons Identified to detect trends and best practices, making recommendations to ACC/A3W for resolution and institutionalization of key learnings.
- Act as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) to integrate weather operations into Information Warfare (IW) capabilities.
- Coordinate weather operations inputs for IW strategies and policies with HAF/A3W, MAJCOMs, and ACC weather units.
- Assist ACC weather organizations in incorporating weather operations into IW activities.
- Review Air Force and ACC publications/guidance and assist in developing ACC supplements for 15-series publications.
- Provide additional OT&E support as needed in operations, plans, programs, contingency readiness, and training.
Minimum Education & Experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Meteorological Technology, Statistics, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of military or civilian experience in tactical and/or operational-level weather operations.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Expertise in weather operations, forecasting, verification, and operational readiness evaluation.
- Experience with weather data analysis and metrics collection, including WARNVER and TAFVER.
- Familiarity with ACC/A3W functional responsibilities, Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS), and Air Force Lessons Learned Program.
- Understanding of Air Force Weather systems, policies, and readiness evaluation standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess weather metrics and provide actionable insights.
- Proficiency in data management tools and reporting systems.
