Taco John's International in St. Louis Park, MN is looking to hire a full-time Vice President, Technology to lead, develop, and execute the Brand’s Technology strategy in partnership with the COO to support organizational goals and operational efficiency. The VP, Technology is responsible for the overall planning, organizing and execution of all enterprise level IT functions for the corporate offices and restaurants. The VP, Technology is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and serves as the enterprise subject matter expert (SME) for the technology environment. This position acts as the primary technology liaison for the franchise system and will have intentional focus on restaurant execution and an outstanding guest experience. This role drives the selection, implementation and maintenance of restaurant technologies inclusive of POS hardware, POS software, BOH software, Network Security, and Delivery, as part of an all-inclusive restaurant technology landscape.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT, TECHNOLOGY

In the VP, Technology position, you will identify suitable new and emerging restaurant technologies, developing business cases and coordinating proof of concepts. You will ensure the security of the organization’s data and technology infrastructure, implementing best practices in cybersecurity to protect against threats. You will partner with key departments outside of IT, such as Operations and Marketing, to define, establish, and implement best practices and procedures for POS, back-office operations, and loyalty platforms (e.g. menu management, new items, coupons, redemptions, etc.). In this role you will interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors for IT and Restaurant Technology solutions intended to advance the mission of the system. You will provide guidance and management for the creation of support, testing and change management processes for the POS/BOH environment to minimize operational risk while providing maximum transparency to stakeholders. You will develop and maintain operating reports for corporate headquarters, restaurant support center, and restaurants. You will partner with Operations to develop, compile, analyze, coach, and advise franchisees regarding data and reports for restaurant operations. As the VP for Technology, you will lead the technology team, including hiring, training, and managing staff, to ensure high performance and alignment with business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE VICE PRESIDENT, TECHNOLOGY

• Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in computer science, MIS or related field from four-year college or university; 10 years of experience with direct ownership of POS and back of house systems in a multi-unit restaurant environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years of vendor contract management and IT restaurant solution delivery.
• Experience driving PCI compliance including audit preparation and remediation.
• Three years’ experience with kitchen management systems and other QSR systems such as menu boards, drive thru timers, and order confirmation boards.
• Technology management experience in a franchisor/franchisee business environment.
• High level of individual integrity and personal accountability, as well as the ability to self-motivate and execute multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner with little direction.
• Knowledge of information technology and administration of POS, back of the house software, guest-facing technology such as credit cards, digital menu boards, kiosks, tabletop tablets, digital and automated ordering platforms and delivery.
• Knowledge of restaurant industry and restaurant operations. Includes technology such as digital inventory tracking, labor control, food safety and kitchen automation.
• Strong background in system development and implementation lifecycles.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid, rational conclusions, oftentimes based on advanced mathematical concepts.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including facilitation and team leadership.
• Able to travel approximately 25% of the time and complete role and responsibilities remotely an additional 40% of the time.
