TCC has been responding to the increasing demand for qualified and credentialed healthcare workforce. In order to continue responding to the community’s needs we are working to increase collaboration of Imaging Science Programs. TCC’s current Imaging Science program options include Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS), Radiology Science, and Computed Tomography. Close collaboration across these programs will improve effectiveness with community engagement and student success.
Position Summary
This individual works directly with students and in close collaboration with our Imaging Sciences Team. Promoting the mission, philosophy, and goals of the college; particularly those related to cultural, ethnic, and other forms of diversity is an essential responsibility for all Tacoma Community College employees. This position reports to the Associate Provost for Workforce and Dean of Business, Health & Wellness under the general direction of Imaging Science Faculty leaders in Radiology Sciences and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This is an in-person, campus-based position.
The student success/lab assistant position is an essential component to our student’s success. This position provides opportunities to practice, demonstrate and problem-solve scanning techniques enhance the learning experiences for students and reinforcement of didactic learning is also a critical element. Our Student success/lab assistants provide these meaningful opportunities for student in our Imaging Science programs.Primary Responsibilities

This part-time hourly position is bound by the WAC 357-04-045 provisions above. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday and weekends, Flexible up to 17 hours a week. The salary is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet department needs. - Monitor student progress in the laboratory setting.
- Provide assistance and support to students with abdominal, small parts and OB/GYN scanning protocols.
- Monitor and communicate laboratory supply needs to DMS and/or RS faculty and staff.
- Motivate students by providing a positive and supportive environment for growth.
- Use technology tools to enhance student learning in any learning environment.
- Collaborate with DMS and/or RS faculty and staff regarding student concerns.
- Commit to Tacoma Community College’s mission and embrace the values of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Coordinate open lab schedules for Imaging Sciences students.
- Graduation from an accredited sonography program.
- ARDMS registration in abdomen/small parts and OB/GYN.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current HIPPA certification.
- Current Bloodborn Pathogens certification.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a clinical instructor within a healthcare facility.
- Experience with a variety of instructional methods.
- Experience with multiple machine types including Siemens sequoias, Siemens S2000, Philips iU22 and GE logiq 9.
