Tacoma Country & Golf Club is as proud of our past as we are excited about our future. Dating to 1894, Tacoma Country & Golf Club has been occupying this beautiful property on the shores of American Lake for well over a century. TCGC is the oldest established Golf Club West of the Mississippi.
Golf is central to the member experience at Tacoma Country & Golf Club. We feature an 18-hole championship golf course that stretches beyond 6,900-yards from the back tees. Accomplished players will love the test they find on our links, while players of all skill levels will find a playable course that is enjoyable round after round.
Tacoma Country & Golf Club offers a competition sized swimming pool set on the shores of American Lake complete with locker rooms, a Beach House with kitchen and bar, and beach and lake access with a dock and slide. The pool, beach house, and lake operate for members and their guests from Memorial Day to Labor Day and through September, weather, and lifeguard availability, permitting.
Position Summary
Oversee the aquatic facility and aquatic staff. Maintain a daily presence at the aquatics facility. Maintain the infrastructure of the pool, jacuzzi, and kiddie pool including chemical ordering, OSHA/Health Department requirements, and safety protocol. Create and maintain an exceptional member pool experience. Establish goals and objectives and plans, develops, implements, and evaluates aquatics opportunities and facilities. Provide direct supervision to lifeguards, swim coaches, and swim instructors.
Position Core Duties
· Oversee the aquatics program. Help with planning, implementation, and supervising all aquatic activities and opportunities for members and guests.
· Works with the Head Lifeguard to hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of aquatics staff. Take corrective action with staff as necessary.
· Provide necessary orientation and training for aquatics staff.
· Performs the final approval of timecards after being submitted by the Head Lifeguard following timelines established by the Controller.
· Establishes systems and methods for training, motivating, and supervising the team and creates a system of communication.
· Evaluate programs’ activities and identify areas for opportunities and improvements.
· Provides technical expertise (pool maintenance), instructor training, and direction.
· Oversee day-to-day operations.
· Coordinate with Head Lifeguard and Swim Team Coach on who will attend weekly Leadership meetings to discuss aquatic activities. (One of the following required each week: Aquatic Manager, Head Lifeguard, Swim Team Coach/Lead Instructor.)
· Enforce Club rules of safety and conduct.
· Represent the Club in activities as required.
· Alert General Manager to any problems or issues with Members and their guests.
· Develop and implement pool safety programs.
· Conducts pool opening and closing tasks at the beginning and end of season.
· Interacts with outside contractors to maintain and upgrade pool areas/dock.
· Operates pool and surrounding area in compliance with OSHA requirements, maintains all necessary MSDSs.
· Maintains and keeps all necessary records concerning pool chemicals.
· Provides aquatics-related information for the Club newsletter.
· Manages the lost and found area of the pool.
· Manages the pool area, lake area, and locker rooms, and bathrooms for cleanliness.
· Maintains presence during special pool events.
· Maintains presence during swim team events.
· Performs other tasks assigned by General Manager.
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
· Working knowledge of aquatics recreation and operation systems
· Strong management skills include leadership and supervisory skills, problem analysis and decision-making, planning and organizing, management control, adaptability/flexibility and time management.
· Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills for working with members, employees, program participants, and guests of members.
· Strong written communication and computer skills.
· Ability to demonstrate strong work ethic and customer service skills.
· Maintain consistent attendance during aquatics hours of operations.
· Minimum of 2 years’ aquatics management experience.
· Employment contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
· Current Lifeguarding Certification from the American Red Cross
· Certified Pool Operation Certificate
· Ability to respond to emergency situations.
· Ability to perform duties involving physical labor, such as bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, pushing, and twisting.
· Ability to perform strenuous activity with the physical ability to perform job
· Able to lift 50 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting pay is $24.00-26.00/Hour, Seasonal, Full-time Position
