Tacoma Country & Golf Club is as proud of our past as we are excited about our future. Dating back to 1894, Tacoma Country & Golf Club has been occupying this beautiful property on the shores of American Lake. TCGC is the oldest established Golf Club West of the Mississippi.
Golf is central to the membership experience at Tacoma Country & Golf Club. We feature an 18-hole championship golf course that stretches beyond 6,900-yards from the back tees. TCGC hosted the 1961 U.S. Women’s Amateur, 1984 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur, 1994 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, 2007 U.S. Girls’ Junior, 11 PNGA Amateur Championships, 3 Washington Men’s Amateurs, and numerous USGA championship qualifiers including Final Qualifying for the 2017 U.S. Open

Position Summary
The Tennis Professional is responsible for organizing and directing all tennis activities, events, tournaments and lessons. The Tennis Professional is also responsible for hiring assistant tennis instructors and coordinating summer schedules.
Primary Responsibilities include the following: (other duties may be assigned)
- Plans and directs instructional programs.
- Provides lessons and clinics for members and children/grandchildren relating to the techniques and strategies of tennis. (private and group lessons)
- Administer and enforce Club tennis policies and procedures regarding play on Club courts.
- Coordinates maintenance, repair, and cleaning of courts and surrounding areas with Club Maintenance department.
- Writes and edits any tennis-related news for the Club’s monthly newsletter (if applicable).
- Selects, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates the Tennis staff/instructors.
- Markets tennis facilities to members and guests.
- Possess some basic pickleball knowledge.
- Ensure that all Club members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention to all their tennis needs.
- Develop a detailed summer calendar of tennis activities.
- Maintains accurate records of group and private lessons and submits to the accounting department in a timely manner.
- Inspects and maintains all physical areas constantly.
- Ensures that all employees consistently comply with the Club’s employee manual and with all applicable federal and state employment laws.
- Maintains visible presence on the courts during lesson hours.
- Complete all other appropriate assignments made by the General Manager.
Candidate Requirements and Qualifications
- Would prefer two to three years tennis supervisory experience.
- Experience running junior programs.
- Knowledge of court maintenance.
- Ability to promote and teach private and group lessons to juniors and adults on outdoor hard surfaces.
- Knowledge of tennis rules and regulations.
- Basic knowledge of pickleball rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
- Sufficient stamina to tolerate weather conditions for several hours.
- Frequent lifting and moving of objects.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a seasonal, 30 hours weekly position:
