Position Title: Volunteer Services Coordinator
Accountability: Director of Community Engagement
Classification: Part-time (25-30 hours per week expected), hourly, permanent
Salary: $21- $24 per hour DOE
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 8am-2pm with some flexibility
JOB SUMMARY
As a Volunteer Services Coordinator at Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity you will work alongside Habitat for Humanity staff helping us ensure our volunteers have the best experiences possible. You will help us keep our construction sites organized and volunteer friendly while engaging with dozens of volunteers each week. Gain real-world experience in volunteer management, public speaking, construction practices, and non-profit operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES & CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain volunteer trailers / areas at each construction or renovation site. Keep each site stocked with snacks and water, first aid supplies and PPE. Keep volunteer binders up to date and ensure prompt return of incident reports and check-in sheets. Ensure safety signage is adequate at each site.
- For group volunteer days, arrive on site in advance of the group to assist with volunteer check in, take photos (individual and group) and pick up lunches as necessary. Deliver Habitat 101 presentation at break or lunch. Upload photos to Google drive / SharePoint at the end of the day and send out volunteer acknowledgement email.
- Run volunteer background checks as necessary.
- As time allows, work collaboratively with the Volunteer Services Coordinator, AmeriCorps and Director of Community Engagement to advance progress on other projects.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience leading and comfortable speaking in front of groups of people (camp counselors make excellent candidates!)
· Driver’s license and clean driving record; access to your own vehicle is helpful
· Quick learner
· Self-motivated, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks
· Able to work well with a variety of people and in a team environment
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, able to manage multiple tasks and various stages of multiple projects simultaneously
· Able to manage personal schedule for efficient use of time
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint Online
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Approximately 80% of this job will be spent on active construction or home renovation sites throughout Pierce County with the other 20% in an office environment. Frequent driving between construction sites will be required. A vehicle will be provided for use by the Volunteer Services Coordinator during work hours. If personal vehicle use is necessary, mileage will be reimbursed at the rate of $0.70 per mile. The Volunteer Services Coordinator may be regularly required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and/or moving up to 60 pounds and traversing uneven terrain as found on an active construction site is required.
