EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position assists the principal in providing leadership, through a responsive and dynamic educational program, so that all students will acquire the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to lead self-sufficient, well-adjusted, healthy, productive, and socially responsible lives to the best of their individual potential.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Assists in supervising, evaluating, and facilitating the improvement of the instructional and guidance programs of the building.2. Supervises and evaluates assigned building personnel; develops appropriate recommendations for staff which may involve staff development, placement, dismissal, or reassignment in conjunction with the appropriate district staff; collaborates with institutions of higher learning in training of teachers.3. Promotes the school and the district with staff, students, families, and the community; responsible for student welfare and strong student, family, and community relationships; exercises good judgment in dealings with students, staff, parents, community members and agencies, and the press.4. Supervises the Student Management Program and administers discipline to students; supervises students in lunchroom, in hallways, on school grounds, and in any program held at the school under school district sanction; provides leadership and direction to assist the principal in emergency situations.5. Participates in formulation, interpretation and execution of the policies and regulations of the district and the State Board of Education.6. Assists in student placement.7. Coordinates activities and calendar of the assigned school with activities of other schools in the district.8. Prepares reports and maintains current records as required; analyzes and utilizes the data to lead program improvement within the building.9. Supervises school safety program; coordinates periodic drills for fire, air raid and earthquake to ensure compliance with district, state and federal regulations.10. Participates at staff meetings and in-service training programs sponsored by the principal and/or the district; maintains and updates knowledge and skill necessary for success in the position by participating in professional development activities as needed or as assigned.11. Maintains a high standard of ethics in all professional relationships, actions, and decisions.OTHER JOB DUTIES1. Maintains and updates knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development activities as needed or as assigned.2. Performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.3. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.CONDITIONSExposed to and may be required to defuse difficult and sensitive situations and/or people; required to attend meetings and activities beyond regular work hours; required to travel within the district and the community; may be required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, climb, and/or be mobile.
