SUMMARY

The Print and Graphics Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality printing, bindery, and graphic design services to internal and external customers. This position ensures that all materials align with the district's brand standards and helps maintain brand consistency across all printed communications. The role includes preparing files for print, operating printing equipment, performing post-print bindery work, and creating visually compelling printed designs to support various district initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

PRINTING AND BINDERY

1. Organizes and prioritizes job requests from internal and external customers to ensure proper completion within deadlines, delegates work, as necessary.

2. Consults with customers for approval of final layout, style, size, type, or kind of paper involved.

3. Operate and maintain printing and finishing equipment, including digital printers, copiers, binders, cutters, and laminators.

4. Assist in ordering equipment and parts; monitors inventory levels of supplies to facilitate ordering as assigned, to ensure required supplies are available.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

1. Designs art, logos, and graphics for a variety of printed materials. Ensures all printed and designed materials adhere to the district's brand guidelines, including logos, fonts, and color schemes.

2. Create and maintain digital templates and catalog for use by schools and district departments.

3. Provide guidance and recommendations to schools and departments on brand usage and design best practices, collaborate with customers to understand their design needs, and provide creative solutions that meet project objectives.

4. Stay current with industry trends in printing and graphic design to recommend new technologies, techniques, and best practices.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OTHER JOB DUTIES :

1. Assists with computerized job tracking and billing system; responds to inquiries regarding job progress and / or billing. Works closely with the Print and Graphics Lead to prioritize projects and manage workload efficiently.

2. Assists appropriate department staff during peak workloads and absences.

3. Performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.

4. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.

CONDITIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Associate degree or vocational training in graphic design, printing technology, or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred; two to three years of related experience; or any combination of printing, production, and graphic design experience and training which provides the applicant with the skills, and ability required to perform the work.

Licenses / Special Requirements

Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance / sexual misconduct clearance.

Valid Washington State driver's license and access to personal transportation.

Allowable Substitution

Closely related work experience may substitute on a month-for-month basis for the educational requirement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).

Knowledge and proficiency in print software such as WebCRD or Fiery,

Knowledge and understanding of digital printing processes, bindery techniques, and file preparation.

Knowledge of brand management and ability to maintain design consistency.

Knowledge of digital printing equipment and production processes.

Knowledge of print shop software systems and inventory management.

Skill in graphic design with an eye for detail, typography, and color.

Skill in digital print production, imaging, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

Skill in organizational and time management, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Skill in customer service and effective communication.

Ability to obtain, clarify and exchange information.

Ability to set priorities, organize, work independently and meet deadlines.

Ability to demonstrate reasonable, reliable, and regular attendance.

Ability to detect printing and proofing errors.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting.
