The Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking an Isolator and Preclinical Services Intern to join our Animal Production team in this full time, paid summer internship, at our Rensselaer site.
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range.
The Internship
The Isolator and Preclinical Services Internship provides hands-on experience in animal production and preclinical services, allowing students to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects. Interns will gain exposure to laboratory techniques, data analysis, and process improvements while working closely with site leadership and internal teams. This role is designed to enhance technical skills, develop professional competencies, and provide networking opportunities within a global organization.

An Isolator and Preclinical Services Intern can expect to:
- Actively contribute to projects and daily operations under the guidance of Taconic team members.
- Support site leadership in fostering a streamlined work environment that prioritizes animal welfare.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop solutions and gain exposure to cross-functional processes.
- Assist with troubleshooting technical challenges.
- Maintain and query databases while learning best practices in data management.
- Analyze data, compile reports, and provide updates, developing critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Participate in efficiency improvement projects to enhance workflows and processes.
- Learn and apply the 6S method to maintain organization and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to visual management initiatives, gaining insight into lean management principles.
- Assist in updating costing and pricing information, gaining exposure to financial aspects of operations.
- Engage in networking opportunities within the global organization.
- Deliver an end-of-summer presentation on the knowledge and skills you’ve obtained, with provided exposure to leadership.
Eligibility:
- To be eligible for this opportunity you must be a current student in pursuit of an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum completion of at least 1 semester of related courses.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
