OB TITLE: DIAMOND/GEMSTONE ASSOCIATE
REPORTS TO: GEMSTONE MANAGER
LOCATION: TACORI OFFICE
FLSA STATUS: NON - EXEMPT
MAJOR FUNCTION: Detail-oriented and organized diamond and gemstone picker responsible for selecting loose melee diamonds and gemstones for setting in jewelry pieces, ensuring accuracy and high-quality standards of stone count, weight, color match and quality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and interpret manufacturing job ticket information to ensure the accurate selection of loose melee diamonds and gemstones (weight, count, color, quality, etc).
- Use magnification tools and grading systems to examine, sort, and pick diamonds and gemstones that meet the specified quality, size, quantity, and weight requirements.
- Inspect diamonds and gemstones for imperfections, ensuring they meet clarity, cut, color, and carat specifications.
- Maintaining accurate counts and weights of diamond and gemstone stock to ensure stones are properly tracked and stored.
- Sizing diamonds and gemstones (melee and fancy shape stones) for efficient inventory management and job picking practices.
- Follow company protocols for handling valuable gemstones, ensuring strict adherence to security procedures.
- Keep workspaces clean, organized, and safe to ensure the security and quality of the materials handled.
- Work with other teams to ensure the selection process aligns with customer or production requirements.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- High School Degree
- Knowledge of diamonds, precious gemstones and jewelry manufacturing preferred
- 2-3 years Diamond industry grading systems (GIA, AGS, etc.) a plus
- Operational Knowledge of diamond sorting equipment (loupes, sorting tools, etc.)
- Ability to handle high-value gemstones with care and attention
- Ability to work in detail with accuracy
- Ability to think strategically and independently
- Willing to work overtime as needed
- Proficiency in mathematics required
- Experience with inventory management systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office - Excel/Word/Outlook
- Must comply with all company policies & procedures including but not limited to: Safety; Confidentiality; Security
- Must be flexible and willing to change responsibilities within the Department
