Job Title : Field Technician

JOB SUMMARY
The position of Field Technician is responsible for all aspects of railcar cleaning and the inspection, care and maintenance of equipment used in the cleaning process. He or she must be able to make safe confined space entries wearing movement and sight restricting personal protective equipment with limited lighting to clean the interior of tank and hopper cars in compliance with Tactical Cleaning policies and procedures.
The Field Technician is responsible for informing the Shop Manager of issues related to their assigned duties.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary by supervisor. In order to perform the essential functions of the job, the incumbent must possess, at a minimum, the following skills and abilities. DUTIES :
- Inspect and clean railcar interiors for compliance with customer, FRA, AAR and Tactical Cleaning requirements.
- Complete cleaning checklists as required.
- Maintain a top priority of a clean and safe work environment. This involves ensuring all company guidelines are met and all safety rules are followed when performing duties, including Tactical Cleaning’s Health and Safety Program.
- Maintain clear communication with fellow co-workers and management.
- Use of water or an abrasive or fine material (sand) to clean out the interior of rail or tank cars.
- Dispose of materials properly according to EPA requirements.
- Maintain proper maintenance and cleaning of all equipment including sprayers, nozzles, hoses, catch basins, etc.
- Ensure that permits, pictures, QAQC and all tank car cleaning documentation is completed and distributed to all necessary parties.
- Assist with the setup, trouble shoot, and run the diesel cleaning system.
- Adhere to production schedules and maintaining regular attendance as required by a predetermined work schedule.
- Assist management with supplying information for daily reports and all necessary operational documents in an accurate and timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct oversites.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of proven successful experience in a freight car / tank car experience is preferred; a combination of education and experience is required. Experience working with heavy construction, cleaning, and / or repair equipment will be considered.
