A Health Care Specialist assists Teachers by caring for handicapped students' physical needs, including toileting, and helping in their training and educational needs through the presentation of educational material or exercises. Employees in this classification receive general to direct supervision from a certificated teacher and/or school site administrator within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures. This job classification will perform a variety of duties dealing with the health and safety of handicapped students and requires a high degree of positive contact with both students and certificated staff. This position is located at Parkview Elementary School serving PreK through Kindergarten aged students in Taft, CA. Education:
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Any requirements established by California law.
• Must successfully complete the Paraprofessional exam, or have 48 semester college units
• Must successfully complete the Health Care Specialist exam (provided by the district).
Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice as well as a physical clearance are conditions of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
