What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech & Language Pathology Assistant position at Taft City Elementary School District?
Under general supervision of a credentialed Speech & Language Pathologist, assists in a variety of speech therapy related activities; to assist in speech therapy services to children with speech and language disabilities; to perform a variety of routine clerical and supportive activities for Speech & Language Pathologist, to do other related work as required. This position serves students in Taft, CA. Education:
• Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Training or coursework in Communicative Disorders, speech therapy, child growth and development, special education, instructional technology, or a closely related field, preferred. Bilingual also preferred.
• Registration with the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant is required within six (6) months of appointment.
Experience:
• Three years of comparable work experience working with children of various age levels requiring specialized learning environment.
• Field work experience (paid or voluntary), which involves learning the job responsibilities and workplace behaviors of the Assistant to the Speech and Language Pathologist. Clinical or school-based experience working with the pediatric population is preferable.
Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice as well as a physical clearance are conditions of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
