Job Overview – Medical Director :
Join our client as a Medical Director in Atlantic City, NJ, overseeing healthcare services within a correctional facility. This role focuses on clinical leadership, patient care, and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to NCCHC, ACA, and PBNDS standards. Ideal for a physician with expertise in primary care, emergency medicine, or public health, responsibilities include supervising medical staff, managing chronic care programs, and coordinating emergency response efforts.
Compensation : $150 / hour
Location : Atlantic City, NJ
Schedule : Monday to Friday, 7 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM or 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM
Responsibilities as the Medical Director :
Clinical Oversight : Perform physical exams, manage chronic care, and provide emergency medical evaluations for inmate patients.
Medical Compliance : Ensure adherence to NCCHC, ACA, and PBNDS standards, supporting policy reviews and quality assurance.
Leadership & Supervision : Oversee clinical staff, mentor providers, and maintain high-quality medical care.
Patient Care & Treatment : Act as the primary care physician, managing acute, chronic, and preventive health conditions.
Correctional Healthcare Operations : Supervise sick call clinics, medication management, and specialty consultations.
Emergency Response : Provide on-site urgent care and make critical medical decisions in high-pressure situations. Qualifications for the Medical Director :
Education : Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school.
Licensure : Current, unrestricted New Jersey medical license, with DEA, DEA-X, and Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) licensure.
Experience : Minimum 2 years of experience in public health, emergency medicine, or family practice, with previous correctional healthcare experience preferred.
Certification : Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Technical Skills : Basic proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard medical software.
Skills & Attributes : Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills with an assertive yet empathetic approach and the ability to work in a high-security environment.
