Job Overview – Part-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Outpatient) :
Take on a key clinical role with our client as a Part-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Outpatient) in New York, NY. This position provides psychiatric assessments, medication management, and crisis intervention to adults with serious mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and co-morbid medical conditions. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will collaborate with program directors and clinical leadership to support comprehensive, trauma-informed care.
Compensation : $82 – $85 / hour
Location : New York, NY
Schedule : 2 days / week, Flexible Shifts
Responsibilities as the Part-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner :
Psychiatric Evaluations & Medication Management : Conduct assessments and manage psychotropic medications, completing up to 12-14 follow-ups or 4-6 initial evaluations daily.
Substance Use Treatment : Obtain Buprenorphine waiver to prescribe for opioid use disorder treatment.
Patient Education & Crisis Intervention : Educate patients on medication effects, monitor responses, and provide crisis intervention.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration : Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation : Maintain clinical documentation per regulatory standards in the Electronic Health Record.
Care Coordination : Communicate with external providers to ensure integrated care across hospitals, housing programs, and justice systems. Qualifications for the Part-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner :
Licensure : Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a current New York State license.
Certification : Board Certification and ANCC certification required.
Licensure & Registration : NPI and DEA required.
Insurance Enrollment : Medicaid and Medicare enrollment preferred.
State Requirements : NYS OPRA status (approved or pending) and a Health Commerce Account required by start date.
Experience : Prior experience working with individuals with serious mental health diagnoses and co-occurring substance use disorders.
