Job Overview – Specimen Technician (Entry-Level):

Join our healthcare client's team in Irving, TX, as a Specimen Technician. This entry-level role involves data entry, specimen sorting, and lab support within the Specimen Processing Department. Strong attention to detail, productivity, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Compensation: $20/hour

Location: Irving, TX

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM

Responsibilities as the Specimen Technician (Entry-Level):

• Specimen Processing: Perform tasks such as A-station, presort, centrifugation, aliquoting, and delivery of specimens to the laboratory.
• Data Entry: Accurately enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Compliance: Learn and adhere to compliance regulations related to test ordering, which may change daily.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with staff, maintain a clean work area, and practice good safety habits in a biohazard environment.
• Flexibility: Adapt to varying demands, including the potential need for weekend, holiday, on-call, and overtime shifts.

Qualifications for the Specimen Technician (Entry-Level):

• Education: High school diploma required.
• Experience: 1 year of experience in a healthcare laboratory or healthcare-related data entry role required.
• Skills: Basic computer knowledge, understanding of medical terminology, and strong organizational skills.
• Medical Background: Preferred but not required; familiarity with clinical laboratory testing and specimen processing is a plus.
• Location Requirement: Must reside within a 20-25 minute commute for flexible coverage.
