Job Overview – Youth Development Counselor:
Become a vital part of our client’s team as a Youth Development Counselor in Bronx, New York. In this part-time role, you will support youth in a residential setting, fostering a safe and nurturing environment while addressing their emotional and physical needs. You’ll engage in youth development practices, ensuring their well-being and growth while adhering to trauma-informed and strength-based approaches.
Compensation: $22/hour
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Flexible Schedule (21 Hours/Week)
Responsibilities as the Youth Development Counselor:
- Youth Supervision: Provide direct supervision of residents, ensuring accountability for their whereabouts at all times.
- Behavior Management: Implement daily routines, schedules, and behavior management practices while maintaining order and promoting a secure environment.
- Counseling & Support: Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions and collaborate with families to support youth development.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain safety protocols, ensure the security of the residence, and uphold high standards of cleanliness.
- Documentation: Complete logs, records, and required reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to documentation requirements.
- Activity Planning: Organize and participate in educational, recreational, and personal enrichment activities.
Qualifications for the Youth Development Counselor:
- Education: High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Previous experience working with youth in a development, education, or trauma-informed setting.
- Licensure: Valid driver’s license required.
- Training: Must complete required physical intervention training and pass a pre-hire physical ability test.
- Skills & Attributes: Committed to youth development and trauma-informed practices, with adaptability to dynamic environments.
