Merchandising Supervisors are a vital part of our retail-ready team, InColor. InColor is a third-party vendor supplying live plant products (primarily bedding flowers, vegetables/herbs, and planters/hanging baskets) to retail stores. Teams are focused on delivering customer service, merchandising/inventory control, and increasing sales within the retail stores.
Merchandising Supervisors oversee a seasonal staff at 1-3 retail stores for our 6-Week Costco Spring Vestibule Program. Merchandising Supervisors start work in February attending training, developing client relations with store management, and preparing for the peak season by interviewing and hiring a team of approximately 15-30 seasonal workers. During the Vestibule Program, each store will have a variety of about 18-26 types of products (SKU). During the spring period, a Merchandising Supervisor is responsible for all daily merchandising functions, caring for live plant products, and managing seasonal teams. Team management includes aspects including but not limited to: hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and counseling employees. Training is available for all of these functions, however, experience leading teams or working within a supervisor/manager capacity is highly preferred.
Early shift merchandising teams start their day at approximately 6:00AM with setup prior to front-doors opening, and coverage at stores is required until approximately 8:00PM every day of the week. Because this is a retail position, during the 6-Week Vestibule Program in mid-April through June, availability on weekends and on Mother's Day/Memorial Day is required for this position. However, the weekly schedule for Merchandising Supervisors may vary based on store needs. In February/March, hours are estimated at around 25-32 hours per week, but rise to approximately 45 hours or more per week during the 6-Week Vestibule Program
An ideal candidate would express genuine enthusiasm for the position with an ability to solve unexpected challenges. The ideal candidate would have the ability to balance multiple tasks and instructions from different managers and respond or give instructions to ensure the successful completion of all tasks in an efficient manner. It is crucial for all Merchandising Supervisors to express strong communication skills as they coordinate with multiple teams and stakeholders and show accountability for their actions and to work independently with minimum supervision.
