Job Title: Agricultural Shop Lead
Type: Hourly; Non-exempt
Pay: $35/hour - $40/hour
Job Summary:
The Shop Lead oversees the daily operations of the shop including employee schedules, work orders, preventative maintenance management, and vendor coordination. This role involves collaborating closely with management to assess equipment needs and meet operational deadlines while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. The Shop Lead is responsible for developing and implementing training programs to enhance employee skills, identify skill gaps, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of agricultural equipment and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
· Employee Management:
o Monitor employee performance, providing coaching and support to promote a high-performing team.
o Conduct regular evaluations and facilitate training as needed.
o Create and manage work schedules for employees, ensuring adequate staffing to meet operational needs, especially during peak seasons.
- Employee Training and Development:
- Create a structured training program for employees that includes onboarding for new hires and ongoing development for existing staff.
- Conduct regular assessments to identify skill gaps within the team and develop targeted training initiatives to address those areas.
- Establish a mentorship program where experienced employees can guide newer staff, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer.
- Implement a system for employees to provide feedback on training programs and suggest areas for improvement.
- Cost Management:
- Monitor shop expenses and budget, ensuring regular review to adjust strategies, as needed
- Prioritize based on potential savings, implementation effort, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Engage the team in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for cost-saving measures.
- Preventative Maintenance Program:
- Manage a preventative maintenance program utilizing farming technology to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.

- Work Orders and Repairs:
- Oversee the processing of work orders, ensuring timely repairs and maintenance are completed.
o Assess and prioritize repair tasks based on urgency and impact on operations to ensure efficient workflow and minimal disruption.
o Work directly with outside vendors for third-party repairs, equipment, or tools.
- Technology Utilization:
- Utilize farming technology and tools, integrating them into daily operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
o Utilize technology to perform equipment diagnostics and identify areas for improvement or repair, maintaining high safety and operational standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in both English and Spanish, written and verbal.
· 3 years of mechanical experience with a solid understanding of agricultural machinery and equipment.
· Minimum of 2 years in a management role, demonstrating leadership and team management capabilities.
· Strong computer and technology skills, particularly in equipment diagnostics and maintenance software.
· Excellent problem-solving abilities, with skill for diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues.

Anticipated Work Schedule:
