JOB DESCRIPTION NARRATIVE :
Will be expected to service, repair and maintain the districts fleet of buses, light vehicles, and equipment. May also require bus driving when necessary. It is also critical that a mechanic be able to get along with people and follow directions.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Knowledge : Must be a high school graduate and a minimum of two years experience as a line mechanic or similar training. Valid CDL with P&S endorsements preferred.
Skills : Must be able to read and understand service manuals as well as be able to repair heavy vehicles. Prefer employee to have a high mechanical aptitude. Must be dependable.
Machines / Equipment : Able to weld, operate drills, presses, jacks, air tools, tractors and mowers, & other required tools.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Primary :
- Maintain and repair school buses both diesel and gasoline
- Maintain and repair school cars and other vehicles
- Maintain and repair school mowers and equipment
- Be able to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems on all district vehicles
- Should have a working knowledge of brakes, front end, exhaust, suspension systems for all district vehicles
- Must maintain the districts vehicle to meet or exceed all state safety requirements
- Be able to respond to any emergency situation concerning district vehicles
- Must maintain adequate records and be able to follow directions
