Tahoe Asphalt is an accomplished asphalt company in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Our business is family owned and operated since 1964 suppling paving material to the Lake Tahoe Basin as well as Alpine, Douglas, and El Dorado Counties. In 2017, the hot plant was upgraded from a batch plant to a National Asphalt Pavement Association’s (NAPA) Diamond Award winning, continuous drum plant capable of producing 2,500 tons per day. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Plant Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of plant equipment, ensuring efficient production processes. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
· Always operate with personal and team safety before anything else
· Provide the highest level possible of effort and service to the Tahoe Asphalt team and customers
· Ability to operate a continuous drum asphalt plant.
· Ability to interact and communicate with paving foremen and customers
· Ability to perform necessary maintenance on asphalt plant and machinery
· Ability to perform mobile equipment operations
· Inspect and maintain all necessary equipment
· Must maintain cleanliness of the plant as well as surrounding areas, load trucks and service customer needs.
· Capable of welding, cutting and fabricating
· Mechanical knowledge to maintain and fix equipment
· Capable of operating a dozer, excavator and loader
· Perform Pre and Post Trip Inspections
· Basic electrical knowledge and ability to trouble shoot
· Familiar with horizontal impactor for recycle crushing operations
· Work in a team environment as a lead worker able to provide guidance and clear direction
· Perform labor activities involved with operating and maintaining a hot-plant
· Ability to understand and communicate quality control measures
· Other tasks and duties to fulfill business needs.
Physical Demands:
· Employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push/pull between 50-75lbs.
· Employee will be required to bend, crawl, crouch, climb and squat.
· Ability to work with required PPE at heights up to 65 feet.
· Ability to work in the elements, sun, snow, heat, cold, rain.
Qualifications:
· Basic computer skills
· Safety minded team player that understands the importance of attendance and punctuality
· Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
· Ability to work within the framework provided by OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company policies
· Previous Asphalt Plant experience
· Mechanical experience and knowledge. (Welding, wrenching, fabricating)
