What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boat Launch Monitor position at Tahoe Donner Association?
Tahoe Donner Association is looking for a fun and personable Boat Launch Monitor to join our Marina/Beach Club operations! The Boat Launch Monitor monitors the Marina boat launch ramp in order to maintain a visible presence and educate the members and guests about Tahoe Donner Policy, local laws and ordinances and provide enforcement as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides excellent customer service to customers, employees and business partners.
- Maintain the launch by directing traffic on to the launch, and from the launch to the parking lot. Keep members and guests in the walkway area and not in the way of vehicle traffic.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Marina rules, regulations, and policies, including those pertaining to: parking lot, equipment rentals, the waterline, the docks, the beach, the boat ramp, and the swimming areas, and enforce the rules accordingly.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Association rules and enforce them accordingly, including checking member passes, proof of invasive species inspection and proof of boat registration on file with Tahoe Donner named as additionally insured in order to use the launch.
- Provide excellent customer service including fielding complaints, addressing customer problems and concerns.
- Keep the launch and water line free of debris. Instruct members and employees who may access the water and who must wait. Keep the line of trailer traffic moving and instruct those waiting to prepare the vessel to launch. Assist any member by moving a kayak or sup to or from their vehicle.
- May be required to provide guidance and training to other Marina employees.

We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Demonstrates excellent communication and “People” skills; Must love dealing with people.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications are recommended.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Able to work under inclement weather conditions
- Read, understand, and interpret applicable laws, codes and ordinances
- Enforce laws firmly and respectfully
- Work independently and use good judgment; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through three to four years’ of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
