What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Starter position at Tahoe Donner Association?
Tahoe Donner Association is looking for fun and personable Golf Course Starters to join our Golf Operations! The Golf Course Player Assistant is responsible for managing the starting tee and ensuring the smooth flow of golfers onto the course. This role will be key in creating a welcoming atmosphere, maintaining the pace of play, and ensuring golfers have a positive experience from the moment they arrive. This position greets all players as they approach the tee and engages in friendly conversation explaining pace of play, cart rules, and other information including yardage markers, pin positions, Food & Beverage and restroom locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees. Ensures all staff meet or exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties.
- Tee Time Management: Greets players on the first tee, ensure proper check-in and manages the flow of players according to scheduled tee times. Organize and record golfers start, turn and finish times, and announce tee reservations by using a computer system and verbal communication.
- Course Etiquette Enforcement: Ensure that all golfers adhere to the courses rules and regulations, including dress code and behavior guidelines to maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Coordinate with Golf Course Staff: Work closely with the golf shop and Player Assistants to ensure smooth operations, communicate any delays, provide updates about course conditions, and adjust tee times if necessary to avoid delays and congestion on the course.
- Assist with Special Events and Tournaments: Support tournament organizers by managing player check-in, organizing tee times, and helping with any event-specific needs.
- Maintain Equipment: Ensure that tee area is organized, clean and well-maintained. Report any issues to management as needed. Ensure that the computer and battery back-up are secured and plugged in at the end of the day.

We are looking for the following qualifications:
Demonstrates excellent communication and People skills; Must love dealing with people. Present a friendly, approachable and professional demeanor.
Previous experience in customer service, preferably in a golf course or recreational setting.
Ability to operate a computer and utilize simple processes and database systems.
Ability to work efficiently, multitask, and stay organized in a busy environment.
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and early morning shifts.
Maintain a working knowledge of the game of golf, and Tahoe Donner Golf Course policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Must be a high energy, self-starter, with keen interest, ability and general knowledge of golf operations.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certifications are recommended.
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent and up to six months relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
