What are the responsibilities and job description for the Player Assistant position at Tahoe Donner Association?
Tahoe Donner Association is looking for fun and personable Golf Course Player Assistants to join our Golf Operations! The Golf Course Player Assistant is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the golf course and providing excellent service to golfers. The Player Assistant will be responsible for monitoring the pace of play, ensuring that golfers adhere to course rules and etiquette, and maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere on the course. This role is crucial for providing a high-quality experience to all players and keeping the course operating efficiently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees. Ensures all staff meet or exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties.
- Pace of Play Management: Monitor and maintain an acceptable pace of play to ensure golfers complete their rounds in a timely manner. Address any slow play issues and provide assistance when needed to keep the game moving.
- Enforce Course Policies: Ensure golfers adhere to dress code requirements, maintain proper golf etiquette, follow all posted signs and course rules, and address any violations or concerns.
- Course Maintenance: Responsible for unlocking/locking all gates (opening/closing). Checks water coolers and refills if necessary. Inspects restrooms and restocks items as necessary. Provides clean towels and water for ball washers.
- Manage Player Conduct: Ensure that players are not disruptive and encourage a respectful atmosphere on the course. Address any conflicts between golfers and work with management to resolve issues.
- Support Maintenance Efforts; Assist with light course maintenance such as raking bunkers, filling divots, or managing tee markers to ensure the course is in excellent condition.
- Provide Assistance During Special Events: Assist with managing large groups or tournaments to ensure that the event runs smoothly and efficiently. Work with Other Staff: Collaborate with the golf shop and other personnel to manage player flow and provide updates on course conditions. Assist outside staff with the return of carts.

We are looking for the following qualifications:
Demonstrates excellent communication and People skills; Must love dealing with people.
Previous experience in customer service, golf course operations or as a golf player assistant preferred.
Ability to handle conflict in a calm and professional manner.
Ability to patrol in a golf cart for extended periods.
Comfortable working in outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions.
Maintain a working knowledge of the game of golf, and Tahoe Donner Golf Course policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Must be a high energy, self-starter, with ability to work independently, stay organized and manage time efficiently.
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certifications are recommended.
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent and three to six months relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
