Summary
Tahoe Family Solutions (TFS) is an established 501-C3 non-profit that has been in existence for over 30 years. Its mission is to provide key resources and enhance skills for families in the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas. As a Family Resource Center, it provides affordable mental health engagements; youth outdoor camping and adventure programs; and education and family resource services to hundreds of clients per year.
Reporting to the TFS Executive Director, the Development and Marketing Director is responsible for planning the day-to-day implementation of giving to TFS and the advancement of TFS mission. S/he also bears responsibility for the following support functions: external and internal communications, database management, gift processing and acknowledgement, prospect research, prospect tracking, and gift reporting. This position is instrumental to fundraising activities and special events and provides support to all programs when appropriate.
The position will play a key role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Development and Marketing plan that promotes TFS Family Resource Center programs and achieves its fundraising programs and goals under the guidance of the Executive Director.
This position also advises the Executive Director and its Board of Trustees on fundraising strategy and implementation.
Primary Responsibilities
· Manages all communications channels within an organization, overseeing the development and execution of strategic communication plans to maintain a positive public image, including internal and external messaging, media relations, crisis management, and ensuring all communications align with TFS’ brand and values.
· Sets the annual development calendar and oversees the creation and communication of operating plans to achieve fundraising goals.
· With Executive Director (ED) and Board of Trustees, determines annual giving goals and builds strategic and tactical plans for achieving them.
· Development of a corporate support and engagement plan.
· Identifies and develops private foundation outreach and grant proposals as well as public grants as available and appropriate.
· Oversees database management, gift processing and acknowledgement.
· Works with the ED to develop strategies for existing donors to effectively move them through a meaningful cycle of planned and annual giving, and to cultivate and encourage new donors to engage with TFS.
- Meets regularly with the ED regarding program goals and initiatives and routinely reports to the Board of Trustees through development and reporting of the annual Development and Marketing dashboard and fundraising goals.
· Supervises additional staff and vendors, if appropriate (including development assistants and independent contractors) in the design and implementation of 2 fundraising special events each year.
· Manages the work of the team to ensure that annual development targets are met and ideally surpassed.
· Monitors community events and activities to ensure TFS participation in the community and avoid duplication of efforts.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in non-profit management, business administration, marketing/communications or related field, graduate degree preferred.
· Minimum 4-year experience (with relevant development and communications responsibility and success.)
· Experience fundraising from individuals and organizations.
· Excellent managerial skills.
· Excellent written and confident public speaking skills and communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with board members, volunteers, staff and donors.
· Successful track record in planning, implementing and running an annual campaign and events with known donors and new prospects.
· Knowledge of software and donor databases.
· Motivates and maintains a productive work and team environment.
· Ability to perform under time constraints.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex environment.
· Successful completion of State of Nevada and FBI background checks.
