Summary
Coordinates the total care of the patient on Med/Surg using the nursing process; assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assesses physical and psychosocial needs of patient.
- Plans individual care of patient, documents care plan.
- Implements and evaluates individual plan of care.
- Identifies and provides education to patient and/or significant other.
- Coordinates resources for complete and effective patient care.
- Possesses effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Utilized equipment properly.
- Availability to work standby.
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.
- Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college; one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduation from a National League of Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or equivalent accredited school of nursing. The nurse shall have completed a nursing education program that included clinical experiences with actual patients under the supervision of qualified faculty.
6 months to 1 year relevant experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
Nevada Registered Nurse (RN) - Upon hire
California Registered Nurse (RN) - Upon hire
- New employees hired into the District after September 1, 2012 must have California and Nevada RN licenses. If hired as a temporary or seasonal RN, must have current NV RN license only.
- Employees in this job classification on1/1/2023 have until June 1, 2023 to obtain a California RN license, unless hired prior to 9/1/2012
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers - Upon hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Upon hire
Pediatric Advanced Life Support - Upon hire
BLS/ACLS/PALS: Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certification). - Within 3 months of hire into job
Other Experience/Qualifications
Preferred:
- Two years nursing experience.
