What are the responsibilities and job description for the HOST/HOSTESS - PJS position at Tahoe Mountain Club?
Job Summary: To present a positive first impression of the restaurant, displaying friendliness, excellent service, and high standards.
Job Tasks: (Duties)
- Arrives on time, dressed and groomed properly, and checks in with servers and management at daily lineup.
- Maintains a clean and pressed uniform throughout shift
- Maintains a warm, friendly and interactive service atmosphere. Supports all co-workers and treats them with dignity and respect. Supports the team to reach common goals.
- Follows all company and safety and security policies and procedures; reports any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries to restaurant manager.
- May be asked to perform restaurant opening and/or closing duties.
- Provides immediate and timely service to members and their guests.
- Reports to and receives instruction from supervisor, manager or director regarding daily events, section map, daily cleaning assignments, etc.
- Controls the flow of the restaurant by utilizing seating charts and reservation pages.
- Maintains a waiting list and coordinates seating in conjunction with the reservation list.
- Welcomes and acknowledges members and guests according to company standards. Speaks with others using clear and professional language, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
- Escorts guests as soon as possible to the appropriate table and offers assistance if necessary.
- Keeps the host podium clean and organized. Ensures all menus are clean and restocks necessary supplies such as toothpicks, matches, glassware and napkins.
- Answers the phone, takes accurate reservations and records information on the reservation page as well as the seating chart with the corresponding day in a professional tone and using professional language.
- On occasion may be asked to deliver drinks to a table, bus and reset a table or help a server deliver food.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and pressed uniform.
- Attends all required staff meetings.
- Supports all co-workers and treats them with dignity and respect. Supports the team to reach common goals.
- Follows all company and safety and security policies and procedures; reports any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
- Maintains a clean and professional appearance and uniform.
- Is available to work required shifts per commitment signed in the availability sheet.
- Assists with crowd control.
- Assists with moving indoor/outdoor furniture to accommodate restaurant needs.
- May be asked to assist with snow removal when needed.
- Attends staff meetings.
Because of the fluctuating demands of the Clubs operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks, not specifically addressed above.
Reports to: Restaurant Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, Director of Food & Beverage. May report to other managers during special events.
Education/Experience: Previous restaurant experience preferred. Working experience in a customer-facing role required. Data entry and computer skills required.
Language/Communication: Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the Crew Members may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the Crew Members may use are in English). Must be able to work as part of a team and maintain open communication with managers and fellow coworker. Must display professional demeanor and communicate in professional language at all times.
