What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optician position at Tahoe Sierra Eye & Optical?
Successful high-end, physician-owned, boutique optical looking for experienced, board certified, Optician capable of running, with oversight, all aspects of our optical. Applicant to be able and willing to sell and furnish both high-end sales as well as provide a product, profitable to the practice, to lower income patients with a level of respect to all. Must be able and motivated to profitably use our edging equipment in between patients or at the beginning or end of the day to save the practice money. We have a fast paced, successful practice. Applicant will be contributing towards our patient and financial success. Must be able to handle multiple sales at a time all while making the patient(s), staff and owners feel welcome.
Systems are in place already for a successful smooth transition. Extensive training in desired, proven-in-the-practice sales techniques available. Beautiful workplace.

Area with higher-than-average cost of living. Hourly rate commensurate with experience and bonus structure and overall compensation is ultimately correlated to the level of success of the optical.
Duties:
- Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features
- Provide recommendations on lens options, frames, and lens coatings based on customers' needs and prescriptions
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
- Educate customers on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Process orders and ensure timely delivery of eyewear
- Maintain inventory of frames, lenses, and other optical supplies
- Keep the optical area clean and organized
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and vision
- Experience in retail sales, preferably in an optical or ophthalmology setting
- Familiarity with vital signs measurement and interpretation
- Proficient in using optical equipment and tools
- Knowledge of retail math for pricing and sales transactions
- Understanding of aseptic technique for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the optical area
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to manage inventory and order supplies as needed
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, doctors, and other staff members
Note: Prior experience in retail management or sales is a requirement.
