This position has an oversight of all accounting functions related to TGL, such as financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger. This role involves helping to develop and implement excellent accounting processes and procedures in addition to maintaining accurate financial records, managing invoicing processes, and contributing to the company's overall financial health. The ideal candidate will serve as a key liaison between corporate accounting and TGL, demonstrating proficiency and timeliness in financial reporting, general ledger management, reconciliation, and analysis. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, as well as a clear grasp of profit and loss statements.

Puyallup Tribal Enterprises (PTE) is the economic development entity for the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, located in Tacoma, WA. PTE formed Tahoma Global Logistics in December 2022 to leverage Tribal properties in the heart of the Port of Tacoma, WA for logistics operations. Located within the Heavy Cargo corridor of the Tacoma port, we are ready to support any and all of your outdoor storage requirements. We provide drayage services, regional trucking, and transloading of project cargoes from trailer to flat rack, including blocking, bracing, and export packing. Tribal and Indian preference employer as required by law.

Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations
- Ensure the accuracy of financial data, identify discrepancies, and work with the operations team to resolve issues
- Reconcile accounts receivable and payable balances in a timely manner
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper authorization
- Route all invoices to operations for approval
- Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements
- Record and reconcile all general ledger activity and maintain month-end accruals and journal entries in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain and update the general ledger
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations
- Ensure bills are paid in a timely manner to protect reputation and credit rating
- Monitor and report on company profit and loss statement
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Monitor and report on financial performance against budgets
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
- Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits
- Ensure all financial records are compliant with industry standards and regulations
- Issue and track purchase orders
- Research and resolve any billing disputes
- Maintain credit card reconciliations and payments
- Maintain and reconcile online purchase accounts
- Process expense and mileage reimbursements
- Provide maintenance support of Container and Maintenance and Repair material inventory levels
- Maintain, report, and record depreciation from established fixed assets ledger
- Hold, maintain, and manage vendor contracts
- Keep records of monthly recurring billing to ensure all billing is consistent with contracts held
- Qualify and vet service providers and aid in the development of certification programs
- Establish and maintain effective business relationships with all employees, vendors, business partners, government/regulatory entities, and communities in which we operate
- Use all company resources efficiently to promote maximum financial results for TGL
- Identify opportunities for improvements, identify potential areas of risk, and share information with key stakeholders to maximize results throughout TGL
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive and proprietary business information and safeguard TGL assets at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum
- BA/BS degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- 10 years of accounting experience
- 3 years experience in a supervisory/management accounting position
- CMA or CPA Certification
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent customer service skills to include email etiquette and accounts receivables communication skills
- Proficient in accounting software such as MS Dynamics, Great Plains, SAP, Business Central and/or similar ERP systems
- Knowledge and understanding of fixed assets, asset classes, and depreciation
- Expert level knowledge of Excel including pivot tables, filters, and data analysis
- Experience in preparing financial statements
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and its practical application in a dynamic business environment
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Ability to work independently and with a team to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Ability to effectively multi-task, and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Self-driven and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
