What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Site Manager position at TAI Engineering?
Looking for an opportunity to spearhead industrial construction projects for a nationally-recognized design-build firm? TAI Engineering has an immediate opening for a Construction Site Manager to oversee daily construction related activities including QC, project safety, scheduling and subcontractor management to name a few.
Here's a Taste of What You'll Be Doing:
- Coordinate with the On-site Client representative to communicate the requirements and information as they apply to: Safety, Quality, Schedule, Outages / Site Impacts, Progress, Startup / Commissioning, Design Changes / Impacts, Change Notices.
- Provide direction and coordination to the local subcontractors responsible for execution of the project.
- Support the project schedule set by the PM, and as required recommend, discuss and implement schedule corrections as required to meet to the project goals.
- Ensure that subcontractors are fully executing and complying with scope of work, schedule, quality, and safety.
- Issue or approve work permits including hot work and confined space, must follow these procedures
- Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards, address appropriately, escalate when necessary.
- Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors in regard to quality of work or scheduling.
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team and work for resolution.
- Inspect the contractors work visually for quality and conformance to the drawings and specs regularly.
- Ensure tool box safety meetings are occurring and sign-in sheets are turned in to the Safety Director.
- Review project schedules with Project Manager to determine priorities.
- Review weekly production with Project Manager and communicate this information to appropriate parties.
- Develop short and long-range manpower requirements to meet project schedule and budget.
- Assess needs for rental equipment and review with PM.
- Schedule subcontractors if required.
- Review long range material needs and deliveries with PM.
- Check reports for proper cost codes, contract item numbers, quantities, labor, equipment and rental equipment reporting.
- Manage receipts of equipment and materials, keep a running inventory, compare receipts to PO’s.
- Monitor Labor Performance Reports weekly and compare with budget. Review with PM.
- Ensure that daily work is inspected by Client/Owner and recorded for payment.
- Contact PM on a daily basis with current jobsite status.
- Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
- Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
- Confirm that materials and installation meet the details and specifications and that the items and / or job are complete.
- Recognize potential change orders and coordinate with PM for tracking, coding and follow up with owner / GC.
- Opening the jobsite at beginning of the day and securing the jobsite at the end of the day.
- Prepare Logistic plan for shipment of materials and equipment to project sites.
You'll Be a Perfect Fit if You Have:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associates degree or certification from trade school is a plus.
- Five or more years of construction supervision experience of industrial projects or heavy commercial projects.
- Prior construction experience within industrial/manufacturing markets, preferably chemical or related industry.
- Prior construction supervision experience of multiple trades (electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&ID’s, submittals, specifications, details; perform a variety of duties which may often change; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure and work within precise limits and standards of numerical accuracy.
- Master management tools needed to perform effectively including computer skills, Take-Offs, etc.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, delegate, and control the work process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work effectively under stress, meet short deadlines and take direction.
- Ability to work overtime with some weekend/on-call hours required.
- Most work will be based Baltimore-DC region, but must be able to travel occasionally to projects in the Mid-Atlantic.
