The Fabrication Controller / Estimator serves as a Company Representative to ensure Fabrication Estimates produced by Contract Suppliers align with IFC ISO drawings overseeing $26MM in fabrication.
Requirements
- Role Description:
- Role resides on Turnarounds and Construction Team within IUD based out of New Orleans overseeing fabrication
- Serves as COMPANY Representative to ensure Fabrication Estimates produced by Contract Suppliers align with IFC ISO drawings overseeing $26MM in fabrication
- Appropriate quantities of activity types
- Appropriate activities
- Appropriate multipliers related to site and metallurgy
- Appropriate overhead (Project Management, QA/QC) ratios as they relate to direct fabrication activities
- Overall cost, staffing and duration to deliver completed fabrication products
- Uses CCES to review estimates submitted by Fabricators
- Identify improvement opportunities for CCES to improve estimate accuracy - NORMs, Activities, Labor Categories, Multipliers, Site factors not in CCES
- Approves Estimates in a timely manner to ensure materials are available for offshore installation teams
- Connects estimates to appropriate budget holders - Maintenance, Major Maintenance, Turnarounds, Brownfield Construction - in CCES
- If necessary, ensures PO issuance, via SAP Requisition Team, is completed in timely manner
- Build relationships with IT and Fabrication yards problem solve CCES account issues, fabrication estimate issues, and ship loose material management issues with the fabrication suppliers
- Visit fabrication yards to conduct reviews of estimates on regular basis
- Aspirational Goals of Role:
- Produces Quarterly reports (Overall Spend, NORMs used, Overhead Spend) on health of CCES use identifying areas for improvement or lack of standard use by suppliers
- Create work process to use CCES estimates to create P6 fabrication schedules per fabrication yard
- Ensures independent fabrication yard QA (such as third party quality reps)/QC (such as NDE) resources are billing appropriate charge codes per job
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and value as it relates to use of fabrication QA/QC resources
- Establishes benchmark values to hold suppliers accountable to and to be subject of future contracts
- Through above mentioned actions, overall goal is to Optimize value in the Fabrication space
- Candidate’s Skills:
- Skilled with material / quantity take-offs from ISO drawings
- Must be self-starting and autonomous - cannot wait on others to give direction; must seek out areas to improve and identify solutions
- Must be able to submit account requests for new CCES users
- Minimum 10 years estimating hours and cost related to construction activities
- Skilled with SAP
- Skilled with CCES or other NORM-based fabrication estimate software
- Microsoft Excel for Recording and Analyzing data for reporting
- Microsoft Powerpoint or PDF for reporting
- Microsoft Word for reporting
