About the Job
Tailored Brands’ Enterprise Data Engineering BI team is central to our data-forward strategy, driving insights into every aspect of our business, supporting stakeholders across the organization, and creating a legendary customer experience.
This leadership role will be responsible for building cross-functional relationships, educating stakeholders, and partnering with data teams to ensure governance standards and policies adhere to industry best practices and help to deliver rapid impactful benefits.
Part of this role is responsible for partnering with data analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to develop and manage our data governance solutions to meet the needs of the business. The right candidate has strong domain knowledge of retail, curiosity, a growth mindset, technical expertise in BI and data management tools, and a proven track record of driving data governance best practices and processes, with hands-on experience. This role reports to the Director of BI Platform and Data Analytics.

What You’ll Do | Key Responsibilities
- Own the (BI-related) Data governance processes and tools – driving the strategic roadmap for data governance and supporting an enterprise data-driven culture.
- Collaborate with data owners, stewards, information security, privacy, and technology leadership teams to establish data policies, processes, and standards including enforcement of data quality, security, and management concepts.
- Lead and facilitate the organization's data governance activities, including but not limited to creating data governance and privacy policies.
- Partner with business leadership within the master data and business domains to build and implement the policy and process for the governance model.
- Leverage a technical understanding of the enterprise data catalog to build end-user adoption, through delivering visibility, integrity, and quality of Tailored Brands data assets.
- Partner with the Tailored Brands Data Privacy team to identify, build, and deploy technical and non-technical vulnerabilities to our data.
- Work closely with the business stakeholders to aid in the development of a data stewardship program, establishing metadata registry responsibilities.
- Define frameworks, operating models, and organizational change considerations for data governance and management in support of new and existing data capabilities
- Develop and maintain a data catalog, a data lineage map, and a business glossary.
- Work collaboratively to champion data literacy, creating, implementing and managing educational programs to deliver a data-driven culture by upskilling the organization on our self-service toolsets.
- Lead the implementation of metadata standards, data governance and stewardship, master data management, and data management.
- Establishing and leading Enterprise Data and Technology governing bodies/councils and supporting business data governance leaders and forums.
- Deploying, monitoring, and enforcing policies/procedures that ensure data is used and maintained properly within Enterprise Data and Technology as well as the broader organization.
- Managing an offshore team to increase productivity, improve processes, and optimize user experience with report development.
- Hand-on experience to build reports and analytics that answer business questions, collaborating with data analysts and business stakeholders.
- Harmonize key policies and guidelines (e.g. Data Quality, Data Definition, Data Creation. Data Sharing, Data Usage policies) with the processes vital to carrying out those policies, in collaboration with multi-functional partners.
- Clearly communicate progress, dependencies, risks, and issues to leadership.
- Collaborate with colleagues in Data Engineering to develop ongoing improvements to data quality, standardized definitions, governance, tools, and approaches.

- Ability to frame strategies, messages, and communications in a clear and consumable manner, tailored to the audience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills - identifying data issues and anomalies.
- Experience with databases such as Snowflake
- Familiarity with data privacy and security obligations
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field like Computer Science or relevant experience.
