Your engagements will involve system configuration, implementation support, process optimization, and ongoing maintenance of TMS solutions for various companies in the logistics and transportation sector. These contract and contract-to-hire roles demand a strong grasp of transportation planning, routing, freight management, and the ability to leverage TMS technology to improve our clients' transportation networks, particularly within key transportation hubs like Memphis. Responsibilities:
- TMS Configuration and Customization: Configure and customize TMS modules (e.g., order management, routing and optimization, load planning, dispatch, freight billing, carrier management) to align with diverse client business strategies and transportation needs across different TMS platforms.
- Implementation & Upgrades: Participate in or lead TMS implementation projects, upgrades, and enhancements at client locations, including testing, data migration, user training, and project documentation.
- System Support & Troubleshooting: Provide daily support, diagnose and resolve TMS-related issues at client sites, ensuring system uptime, accuracy, and user satisfaction.
- Transportation Optimization: Analyze client transportation data and processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, service improvement, and efficiency gains through TMS functionalities, offering consulting expertise.
- Carrier Integration & Management: Manage electronic data interchange (EDI) or API integrations with carriers within client TMS environments. Support carrier onboarding and relationship management within the system.
- Freight Audit & Payment: Configure and support freight audit and payment processes within client TMS or integrated systems, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.
- Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain TMS reports and dashboards for client companies to monitor transportation KPIs, track performance, and identify trends for optimization, delivering actionable insights.
- User Training & Documentation: Develop and deliver TMS training to client transportation planners, dispatchers, and other users. Create comprehensive user documentation tailored to client-specific TMS implementations.
- Vendor Management (Potentially): Collaborate with TMS vendors on behalf of clients for support, enhancements, and new feature implementation, acting as a technical liaison.
- Stay Current: Stay informed about TMS technology advancements, industry trends in transportation management, and best practices to provide cutting-edge expertise to Tailored Professionals' clients.
- Memphis Logistics Nuances: Apply your understanding of the Memphis transportation network, regional carrier landscape, and local regulations to optimize TMS configurations and transportation strategies for clients operating in the Memphis region.
Qualifications:
- Must-Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a TMS Specialist or similar consulting role focused on transportation management technology.
- In-depth functional and technical expertise with at least one major TMS platform, and ideally familiarity with multiple (e.g., Oracle Transportation Management (OTM), MercuryGate TMS, Blue Yonder (formerly JDA) Transportation Management). Please specify platform experience in your application.
- Strong understanding of transportation planning, routing, optimization algorithms, freight modes (LTL, FTL, Parcel), and carrier operations across various transportation models.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and optimization skills to address diverse client transportation challenges.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within client teams and build rapport.
- Professionalism and adaptability to thrive in consulting engagements at various client sites.
- Desired:
- Experience with multiple TMS platforms, showcasing adaptability and marketability.
- Consulting experience, demonstrating ability to work across different client environments and project types.
- Experience in the logistics and transportation industry, particularly within freight brokerage, 3PL, or dedicated transportation services, providing industry-specific knowledge.
- Familiarity with SQL for data extraction and reporting from TMS systems, enhancing analytical capabilities.
- Experience with transportation network design and optimization methodologies, demonstrating advanced skills.
- Understanding of freight rating, contract management, and transportation procurement processes, showcasing comprehensive transportation knowledge.
- Experience with EDI, API integration, and other data exchange technologies in the transportation context, highlighting technical integration skills.
