Are you an outdoor enthusiast and dog lover? Tails on Trails is currently looking to fill positions for dog hikers and walkers, as well as overnight sitters for dogs and cats. This would begin as a part-time position with the opportunity of quickly advancing to full-time if it’s a good fit. We are looking for someone who is a team player, able to adopt our methods of training and maintain the same levels of excellent customer service that we have for the last 12 years. Punctuality, honesty and strong organizational skills are a must.
We are seeking honest, self-motivated, positive individuals who are looking for a long-term career. This is not a seasonal position.
This job is as fun and rewarding as it is challenging. It requires working Monday through Friday with occasional weekends and holidays. There is a lot of driving required for this job so a clean driving record is a must. You will need to be comfortable working outside for long periods of time in all weather conditions. This includes heavy rain and snow!
Who we are:
Tails on Trails is a small dog walking and animal sitting business based in Fairfield County, CT. We work with and socialize dogs of all breeds, sizes and ages. While we predominantly work with dogs, we offer animal care for cats, chickens/ducks, and birds. We currently service Norwalk, New Canaan, Westport and lower Wilton and plan to expand to Darien, Weston and Fairfield.
Qualifications:
21 years of age or older
Valid Driver’s License
Experience with dog handling
Customer service experience
Requirements:
Must be able to pass a background check and have a clean driving record.
Must have a working smart phone in order to keep in contact with customers during work hours and provide updates including photos and videos.
If applying for the dog sitting position, you must be able to board dogs in your own home and have a safe environment for the dogs to sleep, eat and play.
Must have your own reliable vehicle to safely transport multiple dogs to and from the dog park.
Must be physically capable of leading a pack of dogs off-leash on a 90 minute hike 2-3 times per day. *This hike is rated easy but does have hills and uneven terrain.
Must be able to walk large breed dogs on leash and be able to reinforce good leash etiquette.
Must be able to manage and lead groups of 5-12 dogs with confidence and navigate all situations that may occur.
Must display good judgement, common sense and have quick reaction time. Dogs can be very unpredictable in stressful situations!

Salary: $25,000- $70,000 (salary varies depending upon on your availability, capability and skill set)
-Leash walks range from $20 for 30 minutes to $40 for one hour with multiple dogs.
-Hikes range from $25 to $150 for a 90 min hike depending on how many dogs you can safely lead off leash (there is no compensation for driving time)
-Overnights start at $65 for one dog
*Likely to receive additional income in tips from customers
