Position Overview: The FSQA Manager at Tailwind Nutrition is a hands-on position responsible for overseeing plant floor operations, conducting audits and inspections, monitoring sanitation practices, and ensuring the integrity of both raw materials and finished products. While highly independent this person will work closely with the operations team to ensure compliance with food safety standards, such as HACCP and GMP, and will take a proactive approach to continuous improvement. While a role set for growth, this position combines the need for floor-level oversight with administrative responsibilities, driving the effectiveness of quality systems and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Floor:
- Perform checks before, during, and after production to ensure cleanliness and overall sanitation standards are met.
- Inspect raw materials and finished goods for quality, integrity and conformance to specifications.
- Conduct routine facility audits to identify and monitor FSQA best practices and processes
Coaching and Compliance:
- Foster strong relationships with operations through coaching, mentoring, and targeted training
- Lead internal and external audits related to food quality and safety, and track corrective actions to closure
- Ensure timely updates and ongoing maintenance of the Food Safety / Quality Systems
- Support compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA) and ensure that the facility can demonstrate production of safe, wholesome products
- Assist with environmental monitoring programs and 3rd party testing needs
- Develop and deliver food safety and quality training programs to staff
- Ensure calibration processes are followed for applicable testing equipment
Process and Projects:
- Revise, update, and maintain policies and SOPs as needed
- Identifies potential failure points and implement preventative measures to mitigate risks
- Lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Plans (CAPAs) for FSQA related processes
- Maintain traceability for holds, work in progress, and finished goods
- Keep accurate records and documentation in compliance with internationally recognized guidelines
- Design and implement programs and procedures in line with customer and/or company-specific goals
- Manage the consumer complaint process, ensuring timely resolution and corrective action tracking
Qualifications:
- A combination of at least 2 years of college education (from an accredited institution) and 1 year of experience as a Quality Assurance Supervisor or Manager in food and beverage production; OR a minimum of 3 years of prior experience in a similar role with a focus on quality system development
- Knowledge of HACCP principles and certifications such as PCQI is preferred, or a willingness to obtain certification
- Proficient computer skills, including a strong working knowledge of Google Drive and related tools
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in a fast-paced, production environment
- Excellent written and verbal skills, including a willingness to coach others
Compensation:
In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA), the base salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
