Scope of the Role
The Project Implementation Engineer will be a primary interface between the customer and Tait. Working with the assigned Project Manager, the Project Implementation Engineer will guide the project from a technical perspective. The Project Implementation Engineer participates in the detailed design, implementation and acceptance of the solution following the sale.
The Project Implementation Engineer is responsible for developing the design that was created during the sales process into the detailed design that will become the technical framework for the entire system. The Project Implementation Engineer will attend project status calls and is responsible for gathering the information that is required to develop the detailed design.
The Project Implementation Engineer is responsible for the configuration, installation, commissioning, and testing of the system. If subcontractors are involved, the Project Implementation Engineer is responsible for managing the subcontractors from a technical perspective.
It is expected that this role will require travel.
The Project Implementation Engineer will be expected to continue to acquire skills and knowledge through both training and experience in some of the following areas:

Main Tasks
- Interact with customers and staff in a positive and professional manner
- Strengthen customer's confidence about Taits technical competence and responsiveness
- Gather and incorporate detailed technical information to finalize the proposed system design ensuring it meets the customer's requirements
- Responsible for the day to day technical and engineering decisions
- Completes or provides oversight of the implementation, commissioning and acceptance of the solution
- Prepare all required technical documentation
- Participate in Lessons Learned events both internally and with the customer
- Communicate with dealers, system integrators and end users
- Handle escalations to Customer support and TEL Engineering
- Perform technical training to end-users and dealers if required
Person Specification
Skills Requirements
- At least 5 years in a mobile communications system engineering role
- LMR
- Ability to travel
- Excellent oral and written communications
- Attention to detail; making sure issues do not get dropped
- Excellent customer service skills
- System design skills that include propagation design and analysis, traffic design and analysis, specification and selection of antenna, transmission and combining equipment, specification and selection of various linking mediums and the analysis of the affect of system components on the overall performance of a network.
- Analogue and Digital design.
Reporting Relationships
- This position reports directly to the Director of Services.
- Involves a significant amount of interaction with the sales management, marketing, RF and system engineers, operations, finance, project management and product engineering teams.
- The Project Implementation Engineer has no direct reports, but responsible for an integrated project team with matrix supervision requirements.
- Exposure to all levels of management within the business.
Occupational Safety and Health
All staff have an obligation to follow Tait policy and procedures. You are required to:
- Ensure you know evacuation procedures and the whereabouts of fire exits and fire extinguishers.
- Know who your first aider and fire-warden in your area.
- Use company supplied protective equipment/clothing where necessary.
- Immediately report circumstances you consider may present a hazard to yourself or others.
- Report any accident whether minor/major.
