Position Purpose
As the Art Director of the Middle East North Africa Region (MENA), you’ll be responsible for leading the design and visual direction strategy on behalf of TAIT, bringing the creative vision and storytelling for our client’s guest experiences to life. The successful candidate will be an Art Director with the expertise to advocate for creative design, communicate confidently, and develop strategic implementation solutions with the project teams. They will serve as a key leader during shop visits and on-site installation in the MENA Region, collaborating with clients, partners, and vendors to address challenges and ensure the creative vision is executed seamlessly.
Responsibilities
Acts as a creative agent on site in MENA who understands and supports the project vision and objectives developed by others
Attends vendor and client meetings as a representative of the project team
Reviews vendor or partner drawings and highlights potential revisions to support facility and technical integration of the design
Confidently speaks and communicates to clients, vendors, and partners as a representative of TAIT and the larger creative team
Helps strategically resolve creative challenges with vendors and partners to achieve objectives
Presents design solutions through quick sketches or other visual means to communicate
Responsible for reviewing all project work from all disciplines and gives input from respective expertise relevant to project stakeholders.
Produces sketches and or uses other imagery or models to direct the visual design development
Evaluates the project goals and synthesizes into project designs and visuals.
Directs team of concept artists, visualization designers, production designers, graphics and show set professionals, scheduling design deliverables, to create exciting and innovative designs.
Directs and develops art direction schedule and strategy for delivery to project lead and client.Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the TAIT company.
Position Requirements
8 years of relevant market experience in spatial design such as architecture, themed entertainment landscape architecture, or interiors
3 years of experience directing teams of designers, artists and creatives
2 years of experience in themed entertainment, casino, retail, or resort design preferred
Formal Design or Art education in animation, architecture, interiors, landscape architecture, theater, film, fine arts, video games, or comparable.
Management experience in directing designers and illustrators, scheduling design deliverables, and coaching team members
Experience in art directing with construction at least one themed entertainment project
Strong verbal communication and presentation skills and experience using those skills with clients and internal stake holders
Strong architectural sense and understanding of the use of interior design to connote place, story, and overall theme
Familiarity and understanding of themed entertainment building and construction techniques including scenic construction, media and interactive integration, lighting and technical design, scenic finish application, props and dressing, etc.
Experience directing and collaborating with scenic vendors, architects, technical integrators, and facility managers
Ability to understand, plan, and communicate dimensional space (e.g. plan, elevation, and orthogonal projection)
Demonstrated understanding of inclusive, respectful design for a wide variety of guests / end users
Understanding of environments, perspective, scale and colour
Ability to read and comment on architectural and construction drawings
Ability to strategize and solve complex design drawings.
Ability to understand, view, and navigate in BIM360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud REQUIRED
Ability to model in Revit or Rhino a plus
Demonstrated management and leadership experience in the creative setting
Experience in client relationship building
Ability to multitask as well as focus when needed
Can operate digital design mediums and direct team members through remote virtual methods
Ability to work well in a team environment and interface with different stakeholders.
