We are seeking a Drop Technician to join our team in Santa Maria, CA. This role is unique in that you will perform both aerial and underground functions. This includes climbing ladders to install and/or troubleshoot cable, internet, telephone and alarm services or on the ground surveying property for obstacles, planning the bury route, completing the drop bury, and restoration of customer property. This position will earn an hourly compensation plus production pay for each installation performed.

The Role
- Install and troubleshoot cutting edge technology including cable, internet, telephone, and alarm services in customer locations
- Educate customers on the products and services they have purchased
- Identify and clearly mark existing underground cables as directed
- Operate vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other equipment
- Operate, locate and bury drop equipment
- Provide high quality customer service and quality workmanship
- Will work in high and low, outdoor places such as on ladders, climbing poles and digging trenches
- Will perform work in various weather conditions
- Will perform work in potentially confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Willingness and ability to learn and have basic mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to speak the English language clearly, concisely, and communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner with customers
- Ability to use handheld devices and operate test equipment (this can include signal level meters, pressure testers, ohm meters, handheld applications, a laptop computer and software)
- Must be able to use basic hand tools, jackhammers, jumping jacks, pneumatic tampers, picks, shovels, drills, air compressors, hammerhead piercing tool, concrete saw and EZ trencher
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, evenings and weekends
- Excellent customer service, time management, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift and move up to 80 lbs
- Ability to distinguish colors in use of color-coded cable
- Ability to safely drive/maneuver vehicle and cable trailer in and around construction sites, parking lots, etc.
- Ability to use equipment and ladders with maximum load capacity of 275 lbs

- Must have, or obtain, a valid CA state driver license and an acceptable driving record
