Job Description:
Takeover Hoops is seeking passionate and committed basketball coaches for our Boys and Girls Basketball Program. As a coach, you will play an integral role in developing young athletes' basketball skills, fostering teamwork, and helping guide players to reach their potential during the season. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic and enthusiastic group of players in a growing basketball program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coaching and Skill Development:
- Lead practices twice a week, focusing on skill development, team play, and basketball fundamentals.
- Provide individual instruction and feedback to players to improve their game.
- Foster a positive and competitive environment that promotes teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Team Management:
- Organize and manage team dynamics, including developing strategies for team play and game situations.
- Maintain regular communication with players and their families regarding practice schedules, tournaments, and team updates.
- Tournament Participation:
- Assist in preparing teams for tournament play, ensuring players are mentally and physically ready for competition.
- Attend and coach at tournaments as scheduled in the team’s event calendar (see below for event dates).
- Provide support and leadership during games, helping players stay focused and work together as a team.
- Administrative Duties:
- Communicate with program leadership regarding player performance, attendance, and any issues that arise.
- Assist in ensuring a smooth transition between practices, tournaments, and events.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience, preferably with youth or high school basketball teams.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and game management.
- Ability to motivate and inspire players while emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and respect.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A passion for developing young athletes and fostering a positive learning environment.
Schedule:
- Boys Practice: Mondays and Thursdays
- Grades 4-7: 6:00 - 7:30 PM
- Grades 8-11: 7:30 - 9:00 PM
- Girls Practice: Tuesdays and Fridays
- Grades 4-7: 6:00 - 7:30 PM
- Grades 8-11: 7:30 - 9:00 PM
- Tournaments: Attendance at tournaments on weekends, as scheduled (see tournament dates below).

Boys:
- April 11-13: Midwest Kick-Off
- April 25-27: Spring Showdown
- May 3-4: Meg Vang
- May 10-11: Boys State
- May 17-18: Festival of Hoops
- May 31-June 1: Summer Eclipse
- June 14-15: Boys Summer Jam
Compensation:
- $1,500 per season (paid at the conclusion of the season).
- All tournament fees and travel-related expenses are covered by the program.
