The integrity of therapeutic proteins is essential for patient safety and will be scrutinized extensively. Next-Gen Sequencing (NGS) is one way to identify sequence variants at the early stage of the CLD process to prevent unnecessary delay. The bioinformatic support to analyze NGS data and to set up pipeline is needed. The selected candidate will be guided by a scientist at big picture level, but will work most independently with all coding/software related matters.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Independently test off-shelf software to analyze MiSeq NGS data and finalize the algorithm that allows identification of low levels of sequences variants.
- Independently use BWA alignment, VarScan and PINDEL, etc to analyze NGS data and test algorithm to identify sequence variants with proof-of-concept experiments.
- Set up the pipeline for future NGS data analysis.
- The candidate will be expected to give a formal presentation on her or his work at the conclusion of the summer project.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
