What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Veterinarian position at Takoma Park Animal Clinic?
Takoma Park Animal Clinic is looking for a Full-time Veterinarian to work at our practice. Your day-to-day as a Veterinarian will include considerable wellness and internal medicine cases. If you enjoy surgery, there is an opportunity to perform soft tissue surgery and dental procedures. If you love being around animals and are committed to offering them the best possible healthcare, we’d like to meet you. The clinic is fully staffed five days a week except for major holidays. All after-hours emergencies are referred to the appropriate hospitals - we provide daily out-patient medical/surgical care. Located in the historic district of Takoma Park, we are near the Takoma Metro station with bus service close to our door with free parking and restaurants steps away!
Responsibilities
- Examine animals for wellness and applicable vaccinations
- Diagnose illnesses and offer the best treatment protocols
- Interact competently with caregivers/owners
- Perform dental procedures and soft tissue surgeries
- Handle and record controlled substances
- Interpret radiology cases
- Prescribe medications
- Advise pet owners on nutrition, preventive healthcare and general care
- Maintain health records using the SOAP-based method
- Clinic uses Impromed Software
Skills
- Work as an experienced Veterinary Clinician
- Experience conducting various types of minor surgeries and dental procedures
- Knowledge of medical equipment (e.g. X-ray machines and blood testing equipment)
- Problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms and conditions using simple language
Expected hours: 40 per week
