Talascend is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Plant Manager position located in Picayune, MS.
Job Summary
The Plant Manager will oversee the manufacturing operations of the facility, which include the Production, Material handling, Shipping & Receiving, and Maintenance departments. They will coordinate the plant’s manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with our Quality Management System, company objectives, and customer expectations. The Plant Manager should be detail oriented and able to lead a team, serving as liaison between plant workers and upper management. They will be involved in developing and implementing the strategic goals of the company. The Plant Manager must be dedicated to safety and achieving operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe working environment by developing proactive plans, monitoring daily activities, and enforcing safety policies & procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to promote a safety-first culture.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Production, Material Handling, Shipping & Receiving, and Maintenance departments . Four department managers are direct reports. Just over 90 employees report through the department managers.
- Plan and coordinate 24 / 7 manufacturing operations to ensure efficient and effective processes.
- Attend production and scheduling meetings and work in concert with other management staff to ensure adequate resources are available to fulfill production schedules.
- Ensure that the facility is capable of meeting production line schedules, customer requirements, and budgeting requirements.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement operational strategies and capital planning that align with business objectives.
- Identify opportunities and lead initiatives for process optimization, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements, including ISO 9001.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to address and resolve quality issues.
- Manage and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials to meet operational goals.
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all operational equipment and facilities.
- Develop and implement workforce plans, including hiring, training, and development of employees.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to team members.
- Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, production metrics, and improvement initiatives.
