Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced 1st Class Outfitter to join our team at our shipyard in Lockport, LA. As a 1st Class Outfitter, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, and outfitting various components and systems on ships. This is a full-time position with the opportunity to work 50 hours a week, offering competitive pay and overtime opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the layout and installation of ship components.
- Install and assemble various ship outfitting items such as doors, windows, hatches, ladders, railings, and other structural and non-structural elements.
- Perform precise measurements and cuts using hand and power tools to fit and install components accurately.
- Align and position outfitting items using levels, plumb bobs, and other alignment tools to ensure correct installation.
- Conduct inspections and tests on completed installations to verify accuracy, functionality, and adherence to specifications.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks on outfitted components and systems as needed.
- Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other shipyard personnel to ensure efficient and timely project completion.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a 1st Class Outfitter or similar role in a shipyard or related industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of ship outfitting processes, techniques, and materials.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Skilled in using various hand and power tools for cutting, shaping, and fitting components.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work 50 hours a week, including overtime as needed.

Pay: $26.00 - $27.00 per hour
