We are seeking experienced Ship Fitters to join our shipyard team in Lockport, LA. Both day and night shift positions are available. If you have a minimum of 3 years of ship fitting experience in a shipyard and are ready to take on a challenging role, we want to hear from you!
Position Details:
- Pay Range: $25-$27/hour (depending on experience)
- Hours: Minimum of 50 hours per week
- Shifts Available: Day and night shifts
Responsibilities:
- Perform precise layout, cutting, and fitting of steel components on various shipyard projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders to fit steel structures.
- Use burning torches and hand tools to cut and shape metal.
- Perform tack welding when necessary to secure steel structures.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and adheres to shipyard specifications.
- Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and other team members to meet project timelines.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of ship fitting experience in a shipyard environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Must be able to pass a ship fitting test on steel, using a burning torch.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship in fitting and cutting steel.
- Willingness to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, including possible overtime.
- Reliable transportation to the shipyard in Lockport, LA.
