Overview:
Talcott Financial Group is seeking a Director of Liability Modeling to join a dynamic team of ten experienced modelers in supporting Talcott’s inforce models. This role shall primarily work with GGY-Axis models. The Liability Modeling team is tasked with:
  • Collaborating with all model stakeholders
  • Developing and testing model changes
  • Updating or creating model and/or process documentation
  • Supporting any ad hoc modeling requests
Preferred talent shall be available for hybrid work out of the New York of Connecticut office. Full remote work arrangements shall also be considered.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the AXIS Model change process by updating models and ensuring all the appropriate procedures are followed
  • Engage the actuarial stakeholders to determine any additional required business needs for the modeling department
  • Actively seek out ways to improve the end-to-end modeling process
  • Drive conversion of legacy or non-modeled business to the AXIS Model
  • Drive modernization of existing models to leading practice standards
  • Support Model Risk Management activities as either a model owner or an independent reviewer of models
  • Work independently and in a team environment to maximize performance
  • Demonstrate leadership through engagement and personal development
  • Active support of and participation in team meetings and department initiatives
  • Pursue certifications and credentials specific to personal development as an actuary
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate business field from an accredited college/university (accounting, finance, actuarial, information systems or data science preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of Moody's AXIS actuarial software
  • Demonstrated experience in a structured modeling environment
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of data management tools (e.g. SQL, Microsoft Access) and data analysis tools (e.g. PowerBI, R, Python & Alteryx)
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present audit results to supervisors
  • Self-starter with project management skills
